The deceased also left a suicide note behind (Image used for representation) A 17-year-old teenager from Maharashtra’s Amravati district died after consuming poison, leaving behind a note in which she accused her boyfriend of rape and spoke about her fear of the social stigma and emotional distress her father could face if the alleged assault became public. The woman was taken to hospital after consuming poison but died while undergoing treatment.
In her note, she said she had been in a relationship with the main accused for about 10 months. According to her account, the two became sexually intimate after he allegedly promised to marry her. She later accused him of rape. The note also reflected her concern for her father and the mental anguish she believed the incident could cause him. “I cannot put any kind of stress on my father…," she wrote, according to a report by NDTV. Besides her boyfriend, the woman named three other people — a friend of her partner and two of her own female friends — accusing them of abetting rape. Police have registered a case against all four under charges of rape and abetment to suicide, along with provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
