A portion of the century-old clock tower building collapsed on Thursday (July 9, 2026) forenoon, sending debris onto Platform 2 and Track 3. No injuries or casualties were reported.
Although there were people on the platform at the time, a major disaster was narrowly averted as no one was directly beneath the structure when it gave way.
Railway authorities, however, said the incident was not an accident but part of a planned demolition under the ongoing Kozhikode railway station redevelopment project. Train
services remained unaffected.
