Rapid Read News18 A 12-year-old student died and three others were left critically injured after a venomous snake entered the girls’ hostel of a private residential school in Jharkhand’s Lohardaga district and bit them while they were sleeping. The incident took place on Tuesday night at Sanvasira Higher Secondary Residential School in Rocho Mahuatoli.

Officials said the students had gone to bed after dinner when the snake entered their room at around 11 pm. The snake first attacked Varsha Oraon, whose cries alerted the other students. Before the situation could be controlled, the snake also bit Anisha Oraon, Manisha Kumari and Fulmania Oraon. Teachers immediately rushed all four students to Lohardaga Sadar Hospital. Doctors declared 12-year-old Varsha Oraon, a resident of Salgi Alaudi Nava Toli, dead on arrival. Fulmania, who is in critical condition, was shifted to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi for further treatment.

The other two injured students are currently receiving medical care at Lohardaga Sadar Hospital. Following the incident, family members and local residents gathered at the hospital. Kudu Police Station in-charge Ajit Kumar said the police had been informed about the incident and necessary action was being taken.
