The makers of Shakti Shalini, the latest film from Maddock Films’ horror comedy universe, draws on a folklore thread rooted in Bengali mythology. The story blends horror, revenge drama and supernatural elements, and centres on a confrontation between two characters played by Aneet Padda in a double role. Padda stars as Shakti, an ordinary woman who becomes a protector, and Shalini, a vengeful spirit who returns to punish men after being brutally betrayed and killed. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the film has also completed its final schedule, with the team shooting a large climax sequence at Chitrarth Studio in Powai on May 27.

While Shakti is introduced as an ordinary woman who turns into a protector, Shalini is a spirit driven by revenge after her killing. The film’s narrative brings together these two threads against a backdrop of supernatural folklore. Final schedule wraps in Powai For the final leg, the team filmed an elaborate climax sequence built around the celebration of evil’s defeat. Large sets were created to recreate a Rajasthani village and house interiors for the sequence.
A report in Mid-Day confirmed the development and quoted a source as saying, “The sequence shows the village people, especially women, celebrating the defeat of evil." Shoot moved quickly across multiple locations The report added that the film has moved quickly since going on floors in March. Earlier this month, the cast and crew travelled across Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh to shoot the climax portions. Viineet Kumar Siingh, who plays the antagonist, shot key scenes with Padda across Chambal, Datia, Antri, Panihar, Gwalior and Morena, apart from schedules in Rajasthan’s Dholpur and Barkhandi.
Veteran actors Nana Patekar and Seema Biswas also joined the shoot in May. The film also stars Vishal Jethwa. With its plot now out and filming completed, Shakti Shalini becomes the latest addition to Maddock Films’ horror comedy slate, following titles such as Stree, Munjya and Bhediya. Ends
