The United States Department of Justice and the FBI have launched Operation Hardball, targeting the Lawrence Bishnoi organised crime syndicate. US prosecutors have indicted 37 individuals, including Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar, charging them with racketeering and directing the 2023 assassination of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada. Notably, the indictments do not mention any Indian government involvement, contrary to previous allegations by the Justin Trudeau government in Canada.
The FBI has announced a 50,000 dollar reward for information on Goldy Brar, while the US is considering seeking the extradition of Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently jailed in Gujarat, India.
