More JBM buses cleared for operations
As many as 118 JBM electric buses were cleared as fit for operations on Wednesday. The move comes after the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation
As many as 118 JBM electric buses were cleared as fit for operations on Wednesday. The move comes after the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) recently decided to take these buses off roads after concerns over batteries were reported.
As on Wednesday, the number of buses fit to run stood at 268. Inspections by the technical team working from the Command and Control Centre set up at Bus Bhavan along with JBM’s personnel and battery experts who had arrived from China oversaw the clearances.
Of the total fleet of 500 JBM electric buses, 150 had already resumed operations after obtaining fitness clearance. Officials said the remaining buses are also undergoing inspections and are likely to receive fitness clearance over the next two to three days.
TGSRTC managing director Y. Nagi Reddy instructed regional managers to operate additional bus services wherever JBM buses are unavailable so that commuters do not face inconvenience. TGSRTC has 1,050 electric buses. JBM buses operate on inter-district routes.
