Keladi Shivappa Nayaka University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences Vice-Chancellor R.C. Jagadeesha has said that the university had been engaged in efforts to strengthen the agriculture sector with innovative researches in collaboration with many reputed national and international institutions. Speaking at the 10th post-graduation research conference of 2026, at the university's main campus at Iruvakki in Sagar taluk on Wednesday, the VC stated the university had developed 23 new varieties of various crops and obtained three patents in the last year.
The VC said that though the university was a new university compared to other universities in the State, it introduced many postgraduate courses and PhD programmes in various subjects, in tune with the demand from students. “Our university has achieved academic progress on par with other universities with a legacy. Our students have joined many reputed institutions in the country and abroad," he stated. He hoped that the research conducted by the students would support the development of innovative technologies offering suitable solutions to problems faced by the farmers in the field.
B. Hemla Naik, Dean of Education, opined that agricultural research was a continuous process and young scientists had a vital role to play in providing timely and appropriate solutions to problems faced by farmers. “The innovative technologies emerging from the efforts of a multidisciplinary approach will strengthen the agricultural sector," he said. During the two-day conference, T.K. Nagarathna, Dean (PG studies), said that 104 PG students and 11 PhD students would present the results of their researches.
Experts from other universities attending the conference would give suggestions to the students. Senior faculty members and officers were present at the conference.
