Cyberabad Traffic Police will undertake a week-long vehicle survey as part of a data-driven plan to address growing traffic congestion in the commissionerate. The decision was taken during a review meeting chaired by Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sunpreet Singh with officials from the Serilingampally traffic zone at the Cyberabad police commissionerate on Wednesday. Singh directed officials to conduct a vehicle count, categorised by day and time, to assess traffic movement to and from major companies.
He said the exercise would help authorities understand peak-hour traffic patterns in the morning and evening, and enable them to formulate targeted traffic management measures. He asked officials to review the functioning of CCTV cameras installed at major junctions and key roads, with discussions focusing on geo-tagging of cameras, deployment of high-resolution cameras, signal configurations, pelican crossings and overall junction management.
He also instructed the traffic police to study congestion around shopping malls, hotels, hospitals and educational institutions and implement measures to ensure smoother traffic movement during peak hours. Officials were instructed to examine travel patterns of students during school opening and closing hours and assess their impact on traffic. Emphasising enforcement, Mr. Singh directed officers to intensify action against traffic violations, particularly drunk driving, and said there should be no leniency towards offenders.
The meeting was attended by Serilingampally Traffic DCP Ravikumar, Additional DCP Hanumantha Rao, Additional DCP (Traffic Administration) Narendar, SCSC Chief Executive Officer Naved, traffic inspectors and other officials.
