Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Vineet Abhishek addresses the severe disruption of train services in Palghar and surrounding areas due to incessant rainfall. Emphasizing passenger security, he stated, 'we cannot compromise with safety.' The CPRO explained that the rainwater volume is exponentially higher than in previous years, leading to flooded tracks at Nalasopara and halting services along the Vasai-Virar section.
Consequently, trains are running at reduced speeds with significant delays. Acknowledging the chaos at Vasai railway station, Abhishek clarified that predicting service resumptions is difficult because the city's flooded drains prevent pumping water off the tracks. He noted that stranded passengers were redirected to mail express trains halted specifically at Nalasopara and Virar for relief. Urging citizens to prioritize their well-being, Abhishek requested the public to follow the advisory of the city and district administration by staying home unless travel is absolutely necessary.
The railway authorities continue to monitor the dynamic water levels to safely resume normal operations.
