As many as 19 artistes from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, who are recipients of the Central Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards and Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for the years 2024 and 2025, were felicitated at a function organised here to mark the 96th birth anniversary of Padma Vibhushan Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna.
The programme was jointly organised by the Department of Culture and Language, Government of Telangana, Mangalampalli Satyanarayana Foundation, and Pendyala Nritya Bharathi Academy of Fine Arts and Culture run by S.P. Bharathi, who is also the general council member of the Sangeet Natak Akademi.
Among those felicitated was 91-year-old dance guru Pasumarthi Rathaiah Sharma. Padma Shri awardee Yella Venkateshwara Rao and AP Natak Akademi chairman Gummadi Gopala Krishna Rao
attended as chief guests.
