(Representational image) With the monsoon having arrived and settled well in Delhi, the city’s roads are set to choke with traffic and drown in stagnated water. Reports of waterlogging and traffic snarls are emerging from different areas of the city. Visuals emerging from Subroto Park, Badarpur, Sadar Bazaar, Vasant Vihar, Geeta Colony, and other areas show roads submerged in water and cars moving along at a sluggish pace.

With the city already receiving 50 to 80 mm of rainfall in different parts of the city in the last 24 hours, more downpour is only likely to worsen the waterlogging and consequent traffic situation. The Najafgarh region of the city received the most rainfall in the last 24 hours, according to the IMD bulletin, at 84mm. The least was received at Safadrjung region, at 11.9mm. On the Rohtak road, traffic congestion was heavy between Punjabi Bagh and Shadipur for hours, PTI reported. The ITO intersection also witnessed traffic congestion. Vehicular movement was also reportedly affected on Mathura Road near Ashram, Delhi-Gurugram Expressway, Zakhira flyover, Moti Nagar, Patel Nagar, Naraina, AIIMS, South Extension, Lajpat Nagar, Moolchand, Azadpur, Mukarba Chowk and stretches of the Delhi-Noida Link Road.
