Meta is bringing a new AI feature for businesses on WhatsApp. The tech giant has launched Meta Business Agent for WhatsApp Business users. This AI agent can manage customer interactions for a business 24/7 without charging a fee. That is, if you have a business, you can set up your own AI agent on WhatsApp, and then the AI will manage customer responses, answer queries or close leads on its own throughout the clock. If you want to set up a Meta Business Agent for your business on WhatsApp, you can do so by going to the Tools tab. Here you will find an option for the AI agent. Once selected, simply follow the on-screen instructions. After setup, businesses can train the AI agent by uploading documents and images, adding sample responses, recommending bestselling products and sharing purchasing information. Meta said this helps the assistant generate better responses for customers.
Businesses can also choose when the AI should reply, including all new one-to-one chats, chats except with saved contacts, or chats started through Facebook or Instagram. They can also keep replies paused while the system continues learning from conversations, and they can enable or remove the AI from individual chats whenever they want. If a business decides to reply manually, the AI stops generating responses in that chat unless the business unmutes it or turns AI replies back on. Meta said businesses will receive a notification if Meta Business Agent determines that a customer needs attention. What are the features of Meta's WhatsApp AI agent? The Meta Business Agent on WhatsApp can respond to questions on different topics. This can include details about business hours and location, or information regarding products. The AI agent can also share details on pricing or suggest items to a customer based on their needs. Meta says that a customer will be informed the first time they start chatting with a business with this agent. They will see the message, “AI from Meta receives chats to improve AI quality and generate messages for this business." Apart from customer chats, the Meta Business Agent can also generate summaries of missed conversations and surface insights from customer interactions.
