(Source: Reuters) United States President Donald Trump, while speaking to reporters in Ankara at the NATO summit on Wednesday, announced that the ceasefire with Iran is over for him and that he doesn’t want to deal with the Iranians anymore. Calling Iranians “liars, cheats and sick people", Trump said that the US had attacked “very dangerous people" from Iran last night. The strikes were carried out after three ships came under attack while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, which the US claimed was carried out by the Iranian army. “They’re liars, they’re cheats, they’re sick people. They’ve hurt their people. They killed 54,000 people — as of now — who were protesting. You know, when people say how come they haven’t taken over? They can’t take over because they’re dead," Trump said. “We attacked very powerfully last night, the very dangerous people from Iran. They’re sick, there’s something wrong with them," the US president added. Calling Iran “evil", Trump reiterated that the aim of the conflict has been the denuclearisation of Tehran and that the US is going to “denuke it".

I told them that every time you hit, we hit, and, of course, they’re dirty players, so they go after everyone, probably including me. We don’t like them. I don’t like them. They’re evil people, and it’s the denuclearisation of Iran. And we’re going to denuke it," Trump stated. US Launches ‘Powerful’ Strikes Against Iran The remarks of the US president came hours after the US launched “powerful" military strikes against Iran after three commercial ships were struck while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. In response, Iran carried out retaliatory strikes on the US Navy warships in the Sea of Oman. US Central Command, in a statement, said the “powerful" strikes were carried out in response to Iranian attacks on ships passing through the waterway and would “impose heavy costs for targeting and attacking commercial shipping." A US official told Reuters that the strikes were aimed at degrading Iran’s military capabilities, targeting air defence systems, coastal surveillance infrastructure, surface-to-air missile batteries, anti-ship cruise missiles and drone launch sites.
