Nigel Farage has resigned as a member of parliament for Clacton-on-Sea, triggering a by-election he intends to contest. Labour and the Conservatives call it a stunt amid claims he failed to declare gifts from a cryptocurrency billionaire and George Cottrell; Farage denies wrongdoing, saying donations were personal and predated his time in office.

Reform UK has offered to fund the vote, though its legality is unclear, and Keir Starmer, in Ankara for the NATO summit, criticised the move.
