Heavy rainfall has battered South Gujarat, particularly Surat and Navsari, leading to severe waterlogging and disrupting normal life. Over a twelve-hour period, both cities recorded more than fifteen inches of rain. In Navsari, a car and a private travels bus carrying thirty passengers became trapped in rising water on a service road near the Kharel overbridge.
The local fire brigade successfully rescued all passengers. Due to the flooding, schools and colleges in Navsari and municipal areas of Surat were closed. The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for the next twelve to twenty-four hours, forecasting heavy rainfall to continue.
