India has taken a major step in expanding its defence exports, signing a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indonesia for the export of BrahMos missile and Astra Mk-1 missiles during PM Narendra Modi's visit to Jakarta. The agreement is valued at approximately $630 million and could see Indonesia expand its planned purchase from one BrahMos battery to as many as three.
The deal also makes Indonesia the first foreign customer for India's Astra Mk-1 beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile, which is expected to arm the country's Sukhoi fighter aircraft.
