The Vasai-Virar area has been experiencing heavy rain over the last few days, worsening transit conditions despite assurances from authorities. Train services have been short terminated at Vasai Road railway station, failing to proceed to Virar. As a result, hundreds of commuters have been walking along the railway tracks to reach Nalasopara and Virar.
Stranded commuters face a walk of approximately five kilometres, taking about an hour to reach Nalasopara, and an additional hour to reach Virar. Commuters report that this situation recurs annually during the monsoon season, requiring them to walk home from work during inclement weather.
