Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced his three-nation tour in Jakarta, Indonesia, securing major strategic, defense, and economic agreements. During the visit, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto conferred PM Modi with the Republic of Indonesia's highest civilian honor, the Bintang Adipurna. Addressing the Indonesian Parliament, PM Modi highlighted the civilizational ties between the two nations, rooted in the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Nalanda. President Subianto acknowledged India's progress, stating he copies many of the Prime Minister's programs.
The bilateral agreements cover multiple sectors. India will assist Indonesia in developing specific electronic voting machines and export Astra missiles while supporting coastal defense batteries. Furthermore, the two nations will jointly develop the strategically located Sabang Port and cooperate in the critical mineral supply chain, including steel, nickel, and rare earth magnets. In a nod to cultural diplomacy, India will help restore the Prambanan Temple.
Additional memorandums of understanding were signed for agriculture, manufacturing, science, technology, and space, reinforcing India's Act East policy.
