Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said that the suggestions put forward by student activists and the families of martyrs will be examined comprehensively and incorporated into the committee’s report. The Telangana government’s high-level committee constituted to identify Telangana movement activists and recommend welfare measures held a meeting with Kakatiya University (KU) student activists at the Martyrs’ Memorial Complex opposite the Secretariat on Tuesday.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Prabhakar said the contributions of students from Kakatiya University and Osmania University to the Telangana movement were historic. He said the government’s objective was not limited to recognising activists but also to ensuring their social and economic well-being through meaningful welfare initiatives. He also added that the committee would submit its recommendations to Chief Minister A.
Revanth Reddy and work towards ensuring justice and welfare support for activists’ families. During the interaction, student activists submitted several suggestions and urged the government to introduce comprehensive welfare measures in areas such as employment, higher education, healthcare, housing, pensions and financial security for activists and their families. They also sought permanent social security measures and greater recognition for those who participated in the Telangana movement.
Members of the committee MLCs M. Kodandaram, Addanki Dayakar, S. Ramulu Nayak and Mothe Shobhan Reddy attended the meeting.
