An organisation operating under the name ‘School of Aesthetics’ has come under the Telangana Medical Council’s (TGMC) scanner after a surprise inspection found it conducting unauthorised aesthetic medicine training programmes at a clinic in Hyderabad. The inspection was carried out at HairSigns Clinic in Hitech City on Tuesday, July 7.
The TGMC alleged that the sessions were being conducted by an individual with a dental qualification and that the participants included dentists and MBBS graduates undergoing training in aesthetic procedures. Expressing concern over the findings, the Council said aesthetic procedures and related training should be conducted only by appropriately qualified and competent professionals in accordance with established medical standards and regulatory norms.
The TGMC said the inspection findings would be placed before its general body for detailed deliberation and appropriate action. It added that the inspection report would be forwarded to the Telangana Dental Council for necessary action regarding the alleged involvement of a dental practitioner in conducting the training programme.
The Council also said it would initiate steps to register an FIR against institutions allegedly conducting unauthorised aesthetic medicine training programmes, stating that such activities pose a significant risk to public health and patient safety.
