The film 'Satluj' has been removed from the OTT platform Zee5 without a clear initial explanation, sparking a significant social and political controversy. Government sources indicate the film was pulled down due to concerns over potential anti-India sentiment, border state law and order issues, and the fanning of pro-Khalistani sentiments.
Additionally, the government claims the movie lacked mandatory certification from the Censor Board, which had proposed 127 cuts. The makers have rejected these claims, stating the film was stonewalled for four years. The takedown has led to a political showdown, with opposition parties and the SGPC criticizing the move as an attack on artistic freedom.
