Data has emerged as one of the most valuable assets in today’s digital economy and professionals who can transform raw data into meaningful insights will have promising career opportunities, Reva University professor P. Priyanka, who is an expert in digital economy, has said. Delivering her inaugural address at a five-day Skill Development Programme and Workshop, “Power BI for Data Visualisation and Business Analytics”, organised by the Department of Master of Computer Applications under the Faculty of Computer Applications at Sharnbasva University here on Tuesday, Prof. Priyanka urged students to develop analytical thinking and gain practical exposure to industry-standard tools such as Power BI.
She emphasised the need for continuous upskilling to remain competitive in a rapidly evolving information technology sector. Proficiency in data visualisation and business analytics, she said, significantly enhances career prospects across a wide range of industries. Priyanka and A. Sahana, who is also from Reva University, are conducting the technical sessions of the workshop. The programme offers hands-on training in Power BI, covering data transformation, visualisation techniques, interactive dashboards, report generation and applications of business analytics.
Speaking on the occasion, senior professor B.V. Dhandra described Power BI as one of the most sought-after business intelligence tools across various industries. Mastery of data visualisation and analytics, he said, not only strengthens technical competencies but also improves decision-making skills and employability of students. Appreciating the initiative, he said that organising such industry-oriented workshops is timely and urged students to make full use of the opportunity. Dean of the Faculty of Computer Applications Shrikant Patil highlighted the growing demand for data analytics professionals in the job market and encouraged students to utilise the workshop to strengthen their practical knowledge and enhance their employability.
