The Supreme Court has refused to entertain a petition filed by the opposition party in Tamil Nadu. The plea questioned the state Chief Minister's scheduled visit on July 10 to meet the victims of the Karur stampede tragedy, which occurred on September 27, 2025. Additionally, the petition raised concerns regarding statements made by ministers who are also accused in the case, suggesting they could influence the investigation.
The court declined to regulate the Chief Minister's visits or statements and advised the petitioner to withdraw the plea. Following these observations, the petitioner withdrew the petition, allowing the scheduled visit of the Chief Minister to proceed as planned to distribute promised financial aid.
