Nigam owns Kolkata Hawks, Scout owns Gujarat Wolves. Sonu Nigam. Playback singer Sonu Nigam and gaming creator Tanmay Singh have joined the Global e-Cricket Premier League (GEPL) as franchise owners ahead of its third season. Sonu Nigam will own the Kolkata Hawks, while Scout has taken over the Gujarat Wolves. The expanded eight-team tournament will be held at the Jairaj Sports & Convention Centre from August 1 to August 9. Welcoming the two new owners, league chairman Rajan Navani said their arrival underlined the league’s growing appeal. “We are delighted to welcome Sonu Nigam… and Scout… as franchise owners for Season 3.
Their association reflects how music and esports is evolving into mainstream entertainment," Navani said. Sonu Nigam said owning the Kolkata Hawks was an opportunity to contribute to the growth of young talent in esports. “Music and sports have always found ways to bring people together, and GEPL feels like a natural extension of that. I am excited to own the Kolkata Hawks and be part of a platform that is redefining how young India engages with cricket," he said. The singer added that his goal was “to build a team that gives emerging talent a stage to be seen and heard." Scout, one of India’s most influential gaming personalities, said the league offered him a chance to support the next generation of esports players. “My association with GEPL is a chance to give back to the community which has backed me from the start," he said.
“My focus will be on nurturing grassroots talent, giving aspiring players the platform and belief they need to see esports as a genuine career." The two join an ownership group that already includes Peyush Bansal, Nikhil Kamath, Suniel Shetty, Sara Tendulkar and several other business leaders and investors. Senior vice president Jogesh Lulla said the addition of Sonu Nigam and Scout strengthens the league’s reach across entertainment and gaming audiences, while reinforcing its ambition to grow India’s esports ecosystem. GEPL enters its third season after a successful previous edition, with the organisers hoping the expanded competition and the arrival of two high-profile franchise owners will further increase interest in competitive e-cricket.
