India and Indonesia are set to strengthen their strategic partnership across multiple sectors. The bilateral engagement, representing India's Act East Policy and Maha Sagar vision, focuses on maritime security as both nations guard the Malacca Straits. Key outcomes include agreements on critical minerals, agriculture, and UPI-QRIS collaboration.
Indonesia will procure India's indigenous Astra air-to-air missiles and additional BrahMos supersonic cruise missile batteries. In an endorsement of democratic systems, Indonesia will adopt India's Electronic Voting Machine model. This defence cooperation aligns with regional interest in BrahMos, with countries like the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand also acquiring or showing interest in the missile system.
