Investigators say she knowingly released videos of toddlers to be circulated with the intent of “fixing" her supervisor, Manjula, who remains the prime accused in the FIR and is still absconding. The whistleblower-turned-accused, Sujata, was allegedly sacked by Manjula, the daycare supervisor, for constantly quarrelling with her and other colleagues. But before being dismissed, Sujata allegedly recorded a video after making a child cry alone in the washroom in a bid to implicate Manjula, police sources confirmed to CNN-News18. According to documents accessed by CNN-News18, Sujata reportedly confessed to the police that she was the one who locked one of the toddlers inside the bathroom and threatened the child, asking, “Are you crying?" She then recorded the child crying.
Police sources say the incident was staged to create evidence against Manjula. She also reportedly confessed to recording another incident in which Vijayalakshmi, the first nanny to be arrested, had locked a young girl inside the bathroom. In addition, Sujata admitted to recording another incident in which two other nannies, Sindhu and Bindu, were washing a young boy in a western commode while he was crying. Sujata is said to have forwarded the three videos she recorded to a man identified as Gowtham, who, in turn, circulated them. By then, the police had allegedly gathered enough evidence to book her. The main charge against Sujata is that she released videos of toddlers for circulation to “avenge" herself against Manjula. Investigators say this was a clear violation of the children’s privacy. Police sources confirmed to CNN-News18 that investigators found incriminating CCTV footage from the daycare centre. According to the police, the CCTV footage allegedly shows Sujata recreating a scene in which a child was crying so that she could record the child on her phone and use the footage against Manjula over her alleged mistreatment of children.
