The Centre for Liberty opened the State’s first ‘Right to Property Office’ in Tirupati, which is meant to act in coordination with victims of the 22A list. “Lakhs of land owners are suffering across the State as they are unable to utilise their legally acquired property due to its inclusion in the draconian 22A list.
The centre will fight on their behalf,” announced its chairman and former police officer A.B. Venkateswara Rao, who inaugurated the building on Annamayya Road in Tirupati on Sunday. Speaking to the media, Mr. Rao asked if the land users would have to wage a war against the government to get their lands released from the 22A list.
The lands were included way back in 2010 and still remains inaccessible for their genuine owners, he said. Centre convenor Nallamothu Chakravarthy, meanwhile, called it a huge crisis created by the government, due to which the land owners were unable to sell lands bought with their hard-earned money.
He also faulted the politicians and revenue officials of trying to take advantage of the adversity and loot the public.
