A chilling case has emerged from Telangana's Nizamabad district, where a woman allegedly used her training as a nurse to inject toilet cleaning liquid into her husband's intravenous (IV) line after an earlier attempt to kill him by pushing him off a rooftop failed, police said. The woman, Sandhya, along with her alleged lover Anil and his friend Venkat Sai, has been arrested for the murder of her husband, Prashant. Investigators allege the killing was the result of a premeditated conspiracy driven by an extramarital relationship. Read Full Story According to police, Sandhya and Prashant had been facing marital discord, allegedly over her relationship with Anil.
Investigators claim the trio conspired to eliminate Prashant, who had recently returned from the Gulf, believing he had become an obstacle to their relationship. Police alleged that the first attempt was made after the three accused made Prashant heavily intoxicated. Anil and Venkat Sai then allegedly assaulted him before pushing him off the rooftop of his house. However, Prashant survived the fall despite suffering serious injuries. The accused allegedly convinced him that he had accidentally fallen because he was drunk and got him admitted to a hospital for treatment.
Police said it was there that the conspiracy entered a second and far more sinister phase. Investigators alleged that while Prashant was undergoing treatment with an IV line inserted, Sandhya, who works as a nurse at a private hospital, injected toilet cleaning liquid into the intravenous line using her medical knowledge. Police suspect the toxic substance led to his death. The alleged murder came to light after Prashant's mother grew suspicious about the circumstances surrounding his death and lodged a complaint on July 1. During the investigation, police questioned the three accused and claimed to have uncovered the conspiracy.
Venkat Sai allegedly admitted during interrogation to helping push the victim off the rooftop during the first attempt on his life. Sandhya, Anil and Venkat Sai have since been arrested and produced before a court, which remanded them to judicial custody. Police said forensic examination is underway and further investigation is in progress. Ends
