Heavy rain in Mumbai led to a collapse in Mankhurd, where a concrete structure fell onto adjacent shanties. Although local residents had advised the families living nearby to vacate due to the shaky structure, a woman returned to her home with her four children and a neighbour's child to cook.
The structure subsequently collapsed on the shanties, killing the six individuals who were inside. Another person was injured in the incident, while the father of the family, who was away at work, fell unconscious upon hearing the news.
