Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu directed the officials to prepare master plans for the Amaravati and Tirupati Economic Region within six months and to take steps for the development of Vizag Bay City in the Visakhapatnam Economic Region (VER), the master plan for which has already been unveiled. Addressing a review meeting of the development of the City Economic Regions at the Secretariat in Amaravati on Monday, Mr. Naidu said the drafts must be made available to the public and elected representatives to elicit their feedback and ordered that District Economic Profiles be completed within two months to enable the Collectors to prepare plans based on the development potential of their respective regions.
He noted that horticulture would serve as a growth engine for the Tirupati Economic Region (TER) and the establishment of food processing industries would transform the standard of living for the people in the whole Rayalaseema region. Sports events The Chief Minister suggested that plans be made to host international sporting events in Amaravati, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam and develop sports cities in all the three regions with private partnership. Also, he called for the preparation of an action plan to develop the State’s long coastline. Referring to the proposed development of Vizag Bay City, Mr. Naidu told the officials to invite reputed companies to invest in the 51.88 square kilometre project, while noting that 3,291 acres of government land was available.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that out of 49 projects in the VER, 18 were already grounded, 12 were about to be grounded and 19 were in the planning stage. Naidu said the central location and availability of skilled human resources were key advantages of the Amaravati Economic Region (AER) and no effort should be spared to realise that potential. The AER encompasses nine districts, West Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, Guntur, Bapatla, Palnadu, Markapuram, and Prakasam, he noted and advised that priority be given to aquaculture and cocoa and palm cultivation. TER's multi-sector potential The Chief Minister said the TER’s natural advantages ranged from mineral wealth and horticulture to its spiritual and tourist sites as well as educational institutions like IITs.
Impressive results could be achieved on the tourism front by developing a tourism circuit comprising Gandikota, Horsley Hills and Talakona, he observed, calling for steps to effectively utilise Sri City and Orvakal and Kopparthy clusters for industrial development. Tirupati region was ideal for investments in space, aerospace, defence, drones, renewable energy, automobiles, food processing, and electronics, he stated. Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad and the Special Officers for the three regions, Mukesh Kumar Meena, S. Suresh Kumar and N. Yuvaraj attended the meeting.
