Reviewing the progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise on Monday, Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharshan Reddy directed all district collectors to ensure that the distribution of enumeration forms is completed by July 7 without fail. He asked collectors, particularly those of Hyderabad, Medchal and Rangareddy districts and other urban areas, to closely monitor the process and ensure 100% distribution of enumeration forms. The CEO stressed the crucial role of supervisors in assisting Booth Level Officers (BLOs) with the enumeration process.
Supervisors were asked to identify areas where BLOs require support and help them fill up the forms. He also suggested engaging local volunteers to assist voters in filling out the forms and directed collectors to publicise the contact numbers of supervisors through the media. Referring to the 16 help desks already set up in Hyderabad, the he instructed collectors to establish additional help desks wherever necessary. He also directed that every completed enumeration form should bear the signatures of both the voter and the BLO concerned, along with the voter’s photograph.
Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers were asked to undertake extensive field visits to expedite the SIR process. Reddy also instructed officials to begin digitisation of completed enumeration forms. He further directed officials to take up the rationalisation of polling stations to ensure that members of the same family are assigned to the same polling station instead of different ones. BLOs were instructed to verify forms submitted online, while collectors were asked to organise another round of training for BLOs and supervisors on the enumeration process.
He also directed BLOs to hold meetings with political parties and create awareness among them about the SIR process.
