In an interview with India Today, VHP President Alok Kumar addressed the recent theft at the Ram Temple, asserting that the incident has caused deep hurt among devotees. He emphasized the necessity of a swift investigation, stating, "Personally, I would hope and insist that this process is completed within the year twenty twenty-six." Kumar commented on Champat Rai's resignation and the appointment of Krishna Mohan as the interim general secretary, noting that internal and external audit systems should be studied and implemented.
He confirmed the Ram Temple Trust has formed a three-member search committee to appoint a CEO for professional administration of the temple. Responding to allegations of shielding culprits ahead of the 2027 assembly elections, Kumar dismissed the claims as political attempts to create apprehension. He stated, "We have nothing to hide and nobody to protect," adding that he is open to a Supreme Court-monitored probe or a CBI investigation.
Kumar concluded that true atonement will only occur when the guilty are jailed and temple property is secured.
