‘Bidadi Chalo’ march against township project on July 11
Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha members will take out a “Bidadi Chalo” march on July 11 to oppose the State government’s move to acquire agricultural land
Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha members will take out a “Bidadi Chalo” march on July 11 to oppose the State government’s move to acquire agricultural land for the proposed Bidadi Township Project, Sangha leader K.T. Gangadhar said. Addressing a press conference in Shivamogga on Monday, Mr. Gangadhar alleged that the State government had decided to acquire fertile agricultural land in the name of development.
He said the Raitha Sangha would oppose the move and stand by farmers who have been protesting against the land acquisition proceedings. He said the government should focus on making agriculture a profitable occupation instead of acquiring land and rendering the farming community landless.
He added that the township project would lead to the proliferation of concrete structures, affecting the quality of life in the region. All organisations supporting farmers would take
part in the protest, he said. The participants would oppose the notification to acquire 7,481 acres in Bidadi and 2,800 acres in Jangamanakatte for industrial projects, he added.
