The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has appointed retired Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Krishna Mohan as its interim General Secretary following the resignation of Champat Rai, entrusting him with the day-to-day administration of the body overseeing the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The move comes after the Trust accepted the resignations of General Secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra in the wake of the alleged donation theft case. Along with appointing Krishna Mohan as interim General Secretary, the Trust also announced a comprehensive administrative review aimed at strengthening its functioning and addressing the fallout from the controversy. Read Full Story Krishna Mohan, who was recently inducted into the Trust as a trustee through a unanimous decision of its members, hails from Chandrapur village in the Shahabad Assembly constituency of Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi district.
A former IFS officer from the Maharashtra cadre, he has been actively involved in social work since retiring from government service and is currently based in Hardoi city. He was recently inducted into the Ram Mandir Trust as a trustee through a unanimous decision of its members. TO OVERSEE DAY-TO-DAY FUNCTIONING With his appointment as interim General Secretary, he will oversee the Trust's day-to-day functioning until permanent arrangements are made. Krishna Mohan's induction also ensures the continuation of Dalit representation in the Trust. He succeeds Kameshwar Chaupal, who represented the Dalit community in the Trust before his death. By appointing Krishna Mohan, the Trust has signalled its commitment to maintaining inclusive representation in its governing body.
The Trust has described Krishna Mohan's inclusion as an important step towards ensuring broader social representation while strengthening its administrative structure. 'DEEPLY PAINED BY WHAT HAPPENED' Speaking after taking charge, Krishna Mohan said he had been entrusted with the responsibility of serving as the acting General Secretary until a permanent appointment is made. He said the Trust would ensure that anyone found guilty in the ongoing matter is punished in accordance with the law and justice. "We are all deeply pained by what has happened. The devotees of Lord Ram have also suffered because of these developments," he said. Acknowledging lapses in the Trust's management and operational systems, Krishna Mohan said certain shortcomings had been exploited by others.
