The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday caught the Tahsildar of Cherial mandal in Siddipet district allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹70,000 for processing Non-Agricultural Land Assessment (NALA) conversion applications. The accused, Korra Dileep Naik, was caught red-handed at his office at about 2.40 p.m. while allegedly demanding and accepting the bribe from a complainant for processing 11 NALA conversion applications, eight of which had already been processed.
According to the ACB, the applications pertained to land at Nagapuri village in the names of Jamuna Kanakamma and others. The tainted amount of ₹70,000 was recovered from the Tahsildar’s possession. The ACB alleged that the official had performed his public duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage.
The Tahsildar was arrested and will be produced before the II Additional Special Judge for Trial of SPE and ACB Cases in Hyderabad. Further investigation is
underway. The ACB withheld the identity of the complainant for security reasons and urged the public to report demands for bribes through its toll-free helpline 1064.
