The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bibinagar, on Monday observed World Zoonoses Day with a series of awareness programmes. The day aims at raising awareness about zoonotic diseases, which are naturally transmitted between animals and humans, and underscored the need for coordinated efforts involving human, animal and environmental health.
The institute broadcast an awareness programme through Akashvani Telangana, featuring a special talk by professor and head of the Department of Microbiology, Rahul Narang on zoonotic diseases, their prevention and the significance of the One Health approach. He stressed the need to improve public awareness and strengthen collaboration to build a healthier future for people, animals and the environment.
Narang also delivered an invited lecture on ‘Working Together: Preventing Zoonoses Through Community Action’ at the College of Veterinary Science, Rajendranagar, where he highlighted the role of interdisciplinary cooperation and community participation in preventing and controlling zoonotic diseases. The programme was coordinated by R.
