The Indian Prime Minister has arrived in Indonesia for the first leg of a three-nation tour to strengthen the Act East policy, the Maha Sagar vision, and the commitment to a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific. The Indonesian President welcomed the Prime Minister, whose aircraft was escorted by Indonesian fighter jets for the first time upon entering their airspace.
Discussions will focus on boosting strategic, trade, economic, energy, and defence ties, including the potential sale of BrahMos supersonic missiles. The visit also highlights civilisational links, with a scheduled visit to a thousand-year-old Shiva temple in Yogyakarta and interactions with the local diaspora. Both nations aim to deepen mutual investment and cooperation.
