A private bus travelling from Bilaspur to Mandi overturned in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district on Sunday, leaving 17 passengers injured. The accident took place near Bhawana village in Sundernagar subdivision, triggering a rescue operation by local residents before the injured were rushed to hospital. The bus, operated by Priyanka Travels, was travelling on its scheduled route when it lost control near Bhawana Chowk and rolled down the roadside.
Read Full Story People present at the spot immediately launched rescue efforts, helping passengers out of the damaged vehicle before shifting them to Civil Hospital Sundernagar in private vehicles. All the injured passengers were admitted to Civil Hospital Sundernagar, where they are undergoing treatment. Hospital authorities discharged some of the injured after providing first aid, while others continue to receive medical care. Confirming the incident, Sundernagar SDM Amar Negi said the district administration was extending all possible assistance to those injured in the accident.
With the monsoon season underway, he also appealed to motorists to remain cautious while driving. "We are providing every possible assistance to the injured. As it is the monsoon season, people and vehicle drivers should exercise caution and drive carefully," he said. Sundernagar MLA Rakesh Jamwal visited Civil Hospital Sundernagar to meet the injured passengers and enquire about their condition. He wished them a speedy recovery and interacted with hospital authorities during his visit.
Police from Sundernagar police station have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine what led to the accident. Officials are examining the circumstances under which the bus lost control near Bhawana Chowk. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be established. Ends
