A 25-year-old software engineer was killed and three members of his family, including a two-year-old boy, were injured after the car they were travelling in rammed into the rear of a lorry on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Peddagolkonda in Shamshabad during the early hours of Monday (July 6, 2026). The deceased was identified as 25-year-old Challa Manohar, a software employee and a native of Kaikavolu village in Pedapudi mandal of Kakinada district, who was residing in Hyderabad.
According to the statement from the family, Manohar and his relatives were returning to Hyderabad after attending the engagement ceremony of his cousin in Yerupally village, Kakinada district. They had left for Hyderabad at about 6 p.m. on Sunday in a car driven by 33-year-old Challa Raghavendra Prasad. The police said that at about 3 a.m., when the car reached Exit Number 15 near Peddagolkonda on the ORR, it allegedly crashed into the rear of an unidentified lorry that had suddenly slowed down in the same lane.
The impact threw the car into the adjacent lane and left it extensively damaged. “Manohar, who was seated in the front passenger seat, suffered severe head injuries and died on the spot. Raghavendra Prasad’s wife, 31-year-old Bhavani — a software employee — sustained facial and abdominal injuries. She was initially shifted to a hospital in Shamshabad before being referred to a private hospital in Gachibowli for specialised treatment,” said an officer from the Shamshabad Police Station, adding that Raghavendra Prasad and their two-year-old son Karthikeya also sustained injuries.
A case was registered at Shamshabad Police Station, and efforts are underway to identify the lorry involved in the accident. Further investigation is in progress.
