The accused, identified as Arastu Sikka, was taken into custody after the woman’s relatives accused him of subjecting her to persistent harassment over dowry. Police said the investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is continuing. Woman Declared Dead At AIIMS The incident took place on Saturday evening, when the woman, a resident of Pushp Vihar, was found critically injured outside B-Block of the NDMC residential flats at Palika Kunj in Lodhi Colony.

Investigators believe she fell from the third floor of one of the buildings in the complex. She was rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), where doctors declared her brought dead. The victim worked as a sales executive at a private company in Chhatarpur and had married on April 24 this year. Mandatory Inquiry Underway As the death occurred within seven years of marriage, police have initiated mandatory inquest proceedings and informed the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), as required under law. Investigators said they are still trying to determine how the woman reached the NDMC housing complex and the exact circumstances that led to her death. CCTV footage from the area is being examined, while residents are being questioned to establish the sequence of events. Family Alleges Dowry Demands And Abuse The victim’s family has alleged that she was either murdered or driven to take the extreme step due to continuous physical and mental harassment by her husband and his family over dowry.

According to the woman’s uncle, the accused family allegedly demanded a car and Rs10 lakh after the couple’s love marriage. He claimed she was repeatedly subjected to abuse after the wedding. The family also alleged that although her husband initially objected to her working, he later insisted that she hand over her entire salary. Dispute Over Supporting Her Mother According to her relatives, the woman became the sole earning member of her family after her father’s death five years ago. They claimed she wanted to continue sending ₹5,000 every month to support her mother, but this reportedly became a recurring source of disagreement between the couple. Police said the investigation is ongoing and all aspects of the case are being examined.
