(X) Egypt has officially inaugurated The Octagon, its new State Strategic Command Centre, in the New Administrative Capital east of Cairo. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi inaugurated the sprawling military complex on July 4, with Egyptian authorities describing it as the country’s most advanced command-and-control hub and one of the world’s largest military headquarters. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi formally inaugurated The Octagon on July 4 as part of Egypt’s efforts to modernise its defence infrastructure and centralise military command.
2. The headquarters is situated in the New Administrative Capital, east of Cairo, where Egypt is relocating several key government and sovereign institutions. 3. Officially known as the State Strategic Command Headquarters, the complex covers nearly 22,000 acres and includes 13 integrated strategic and logistical zones. According to Egypt’s State Information Service (SIS), it is the largest defence and administrative complex in the Middle East. 4. Egyptian officials describe The Octagon as a “miniature administrative and defence city" that brings together military command, logistics, training facilities and national emergency management within one secure campus. 5. The facility consists of eight interconnected octagonal buildings surrounding two central command structures. Officials say the design symbolises unity and integrated command while blending traditional Egyptian architecture with modern military infrastructure. 6. The command centre is fitted with advanced Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) systems along with artificial intelligence technologies to enable real-time information sharing, quicker decision-making and coordinated military operations.

The headquarters has also been designed to facilitate coordination between the armed forces and civilian government agencies during emergencies, disasters and other national security situations. 8. Like the US Department of Defence headquarters, it is intended to centralise military leadership, operational planning, intelligence, secure communications and crisis management. 9.
