A social media influencer with over one lakh Instagram followers is facing an FIR in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal for allegedly honey-trapping a man, obtaining his private photographs and videos, and blackmailing him by threatening to make the content public. Two of her alleged associates have also been named in the FIR. According to the complaint, the accused influencer, identified as Arisha, along with two men, Anas and Shoaib, allegedly extorted money from the complainant over a prolonged period and later demanded Rs 2 lakh, prompting him to approach the police. Read Full Story The complainant, Mohammad Shahrukh, a resident of Chaudhary Sarai in Sambhal, alleged that he first met Arisha during a trip to Nainital around three years ago. He claimed the two became acquainted through Instagram before meeting in person while they were visiting the hill station with their respective companions.
Their friendship soon developed into a relationship. Shahrukh alleged that during this period, Arisha obtained his objectionable photographs and videos. He claimed that after some time, she, along with her associates, began threatening to upload the content on social media and implicate him in false cases unless he paid money. According to the FIR, the accused allegedly extorted Rs 55,000 from him by threatening to circulate his private photographs and videos. The complainant further claimed that on July 1, 2023, both parties executed a settlement on a stamp paper, under which Arisha allegedly admitted that earlier allegations made against him were false. However, despite the settlement, the alleged blackmail resumed after some time. Shahrukh alleged that Arisha, along with Anas and Shoaib, again contacted him, threatened to leak the photographs and videos, and demanded Rs 2 lakh.
He also claimed that he had paid nearly Rs 4 lakh to the accused over time and submitted screenshots of transactions and conversations to the police as evidence. In his complaint, Shahrukh further alleged that after the FIR was registered, he started receiving fresh threats and abusive messages. He also claimed that posts targeting him were being uploaded on social media and alleged that the accused were part of a larger racket that honey-traps men and extorts money by exploiting fears of public embarrassment. These allegations have not been independently verified by the police. Confirming the case, local cop Sudhir Panwar said police registered an FIR based on the complainant's allegations.
