Rapid Read (Representative Image) Two alleged shooters of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh each, were killed in an encounter with a joint team of the Haryana Police’s Special Task Force (STF) Bahadurgarh unit and the Counter Intelligence wing of the Delhi Police’s Special Cell late Saturday night near Bahadurgarh. The deceased have been identified as Pravesh, a resident of Tibba Danasher village, and Himanshu, son of Sushil Kumar from Jakhod Khera village. Both belonged to Hisar district and were wanted in connection with the June 11 murder of Hansi-based gym owner Kapil. According to Haryana Police, the joint teams launched the operation after receiving specific intelligence about the presence of the two accused in the Bahadurgarh area.
A police spokesperson said the two gang members, armed with sophisticated weapons, were allegedly planning to execute a major criminal act. As police moved to apprehend them, the accused allegedly opened indiscriminate fire, prompting the security personnel to retaliate in self-defence. An exchange of fire followed. During the encounter, one police constable sustained injuries, while four other personnel escaped unharmed after bullets fired by the accused struck their bulletproof jackets, the spokesperson said. The injured constable and the two accused were rushed to a hospital. Doctors declared Pravesh and Himanshu dead during treatment, while the constable is reported to be in stable condition. Police said weapons and other evidence have been recovered from the encounter site, and further investigation is underway. DGP On Operation The police spokesperson said Director General of Police Ajay Singhal stated that the operation reflected Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s zero-tolerance policy against organised crime and gangster networks.
He said the police teams displayed courage and professionalism while carrying out the operation and wished the injured constable a speedy recovery. Singhal added that Haryana Police would continue taking firm and decisive action against criminal networks operating in the state. Hansi Gym Owner Murder The encounter comes weeks after the murder of Kapil, who owned RED Gym at Krantikari Chowk in Hansi. On the morning of June 11, he was training a group of young men and a woman when two motorcycle-borne assailants arrived. Police said one of the attackers opened fire at close range, hitting Kapil in the head and back. He collapsed at the spot, while a stray bullet injured a woman present inside the gym. Doctors later found nine bullet wounds on Kapil’s body—six on his back and three on his chest. Hours after the murder, an X account named “Harry Boxer" claimed responsibility on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
