Heavy rains and landslides between Mumbai and Pune have severely disrupted both road and rail connectivity. Landslides have shut down the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and affected the railway link on the Karjat-Lonavala section. The Central Railway has cancelled key trains, including the Deccan Queen and Deccan Express, while others like the Pragati Express and Indrayani Intercity have been halted.
Although Mumbai local services remain unaffected up to Karjat, restoration work is underway on the hilly railway sections. Officials estimate it may take over a day to clear debris and completely restore services due to ongoing heavy rainfall.
