A powerful explosion ripped through the home of a retired Army man in Haryana's Rewari, injuring five people, including four members of his family and a neighbour, police said. The blast shattered glass panes on the doors and windows of the house and also damaged its main iron gate. The exact cause of the explosion on Sunday evening remains unknown, with police saying it will be determined only after the forensic examination is completed.
Read Full Story The incident occurred at the residence of retired Army man Satbir Chauhan in Hans Nagar. According to police, Chauhan's 23-year-old daughter, Tanu, was ironing clothes when a loud explosion rocked the house. At the time of the blast, Satbir Chauhan, his wife Madhu, daughter Tanu, three-year-old Khushi—a relative's daughter—and neighbour Jai Bhagwan, a CRPF personnel, were inside the house.
All five were initially taken to the Civil Hospital for first aid before being shifted to different medical facilities based on the seriousness of their injuries. Tanu was referred to PGI Rohtak, Satbir Chauhan to a hospital in Gurugram, and Jai Bhagwan to the Army Hospital in Delhi. Madhu and Khushi suffered minor injuries and were treated accordingly. Police said they rushed to the scene after receiving information about the explosion, secured the area and summoned a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory to examine the site.
Officials said the investigation is underway, and the precise cause of the blast will be known only after the forensic report is received. Ends
