Mourners carrying flags, portraits and banners reading "There will be blood" marched through the streets of Tehran as Iran continues its multi-day state funeral for slain Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a US-Israeli strike on February 28, 2026. The funeral proceedings, which began on July 4, are expected to conclude with Khamenei's burial in his hometown of Mashhad.
Officials have said the ceremonies could draw more than 10-15 million mourners nationwide, with crowds chanting slogans of defiance and revenge as the procession moves through Tehran, Qom, Najaf and Karbala.
