‘Amaravathi 10K Run’ attracts over 1,200 participants in Vijayawada
More than 1,200 runners from across Andhra Pradesh participated in the ‘SmartVision Amaravathi 10K Run 2026’ held under the theme ‘Run for Amaravathi’ along BRTS
More than 1,200 runners from across Andhra Pradesh participated in the ‘SmartVision Amaravathi 10K Run 2026’ held under the theme ‘Run for Amaravathi’ along BRTS road in Vijayawada on Sunday. by SmartVision Eye Hospitals and organised by Global Events and Entertainment, the event aimed at promoting fitness, healthy living and community participation. Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni) flagged off the run at Seethannapeta gate, featuring 10K, 5K and 3K categories, attracting professional athletes, students, corporate employees, amateur runners and families.
The event began with a zumba warm-up session, while participants collected their race kits and bibs at a pre-event expo held at Decathlon Vijayawada. The organisers arranged timing bibs, hydration points, medical support, route marshals, volunteers, finisher medals, e-certificates, event T-shirts, refreshments and goodie bags. In the 5K category, Harish Mallu emerged as winner in the men’s section, followed by Kakaraparthi Hemanth in second place and Bejjipalli Subash at third. In the women’s category, Ch. Tanmai Naga Durga secured first place, while Sammingi Mahalakshmi and Meenakshi Pendra finished second and third respectively In the 10K category, Vangala Dhanush claimed the men’s title, with Pandru Ram Vetti and Boddupalli Ramesh finishing second and third respectively.
Among women, Gaddam Rajeshwari emerged victorious, followed by M. Anupama in second place and Kshirasagara Ramaasmita at third. Speaking on the occasion, director and chief surgeon of SmartVision Eye Hospitals, Dr. Harshavardhan Reddy, said the overwhelming response reflected increasing public awareness about fitness and preventive healthcare. Event organiser Aadi Narayana thanked the sponsors, volunteers and participants, while extending special appreciation to SmartVision Eye Hospitals for its support as the title sponsor. Global Events and Entertainment managing director Shamya Reddy said the event aimed to bring people together through sport and encourage community-based fitness initiatives.
The run also highlighted the importance of preventive healthcare and eye wellness, with SmartVision Eye Hospitals creating awareness about regular eye check-ups and modern vision correction technologies.
