File image NEET-UG Leak Case: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two more individuals in connection with the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case, taking the total number of arrests in the case to 13. The latest arrests include a Latur-based doctor and a faculty member from a Pune coaching institute, officials said.
The agency arrested Manoj Shirure for allegedly playing a key role in facilitating three students, including the son of Renukai Career Centre (RCC) founder Shivraj Motegaonkar, in getting the chemistry questions from NEET paper setter P V Kulkarni, they said. Motegaonkar, who ran the RCC in Latur, was recently arrested in the case. The agency also arrested Tejas Harshadkumar Shah, a physics teacher at Dr Abhang Prabhu Medical Academy (APMA), a Pune-based coaching centre, the officials said. Investigators alleged that he received leaked Physics questions from another arrested accused, Manisha Havaldar. The agency said the investigation is continuing to uncover the larger conspiracy and the chain involved in leaking and circulating the question papers before the examination. “The investigation to unearth the chain as well as the conspiracy in this case is ongoing," the CBI said in a statement, adding that searches had been conducted at 49 locations across the country.
Officials said several incriminating documents, laptops and mobile phones have been seized and are being examined. The CBI further said that special teams have been working across multiple cities, including Delhi, Jaipur, Gurugram, Nashik, Pune, Latur and Ahilyanagar, to identify all those involved in the leak. On May 12, the Testing Agency (NTA) cancelled the Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate), or NEET, held on May 3 for medical admissions amid allegations of paper leak. The case was registered on May 12 after a complaint from the Department of Higher Education under the Union Education Ministry. More than 22 lakh students had appeared for the exam across over 5,400 centres in India and abroad. A re-examination is now scheduled for June 21 under enhanced security arrangements directed by the Union Education Ministry.
