Four killed as bus rams into car on Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway
Four people, including two children, were killed after a private travels bus rammed into a car from behind on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada Highway near Peddakaparthi village
Four people, including two children, were killed after a private travels bus rammed into a car from behind on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada Highway near Peddakaparthi village in Chityala mandal of Nalgonda district on Sunday morning. Police said the victims were travelling from Chennai to Hyderabad when the accident occurred. The Arshia Travels bus, bearing registration number OD 18 Q 6786, crashed into the rear of the Verna car, bearing registration number AP 09 CR 0010.
The deceased were identified as Katta Srikar Prasad, 62, a film editor from Hyderabad and a family friend, Malireddy Vijayalakshmi, 40, Malireddy Shriya, 17, and Malireddy Prabhav, 12. All four died on the spot. Malireddy Veera Venkata Naga Varaprasad Babu, 45, a bank manager, who was driving the car, sustained critical injuries and was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Five passengers travelling in the private bus also suffered injuries in the accident. Police rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operations. The bodies were shifted to the Nalgonda Area Hospital for post-mortem examination, while evidence from the accident scene was collected. Nalgonda district Superintendent of Police Sharath Chandra Pawar visited the accident site and instructed local police officials to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the cause of the accident and submit a detailed report.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
