Residents of Narasingapuram municipality demanded bus shelters in their locality as people were waiting in open places near the road. Narasingapuram is a municipality located near Attur in the Salem district. There are 18 wards in this municipality, and there are more than 23,000 residents. The Salem-Chennai main road passes via this municipality. To reach the Attur bus stand, every bus passes this municipality.
From Attur bus stands, buses headed to Vazhapadi, Salem, Yethapur, and Pethanaickenpalayam. More than 200 buses pass this municipality per day. But for the people of this municipality, there were no bus shelters to wait for the bus. M. Saravanan, a resident of Narasingapuram, said that on both sides of the Salem-Chennai road that passed via the municipality, people had to wait on roads for the buses to go towards Chennai or Salem.
During the afternoon, people used to wait near the shops functioning on the roadsides. While itโs raining, people without an option wait near the road to catch the buses. Other than Narasingapuram, there are bus stops in Vinayagapuram and Alamaram that come under this municipality. There are also no bus shelters. If people did not wait near the road, the buses that pass the road would not stop for the passengers.
Due to this, even in rain and summer time, people wait near the road to catch buses. The District Administration to provide bus shelters in the Narasingapuram municipality, considering the benefit of students and the public, Mr. Saravanan added. When contacted, Narasingapuram municipality officials they assured to look into the issue.
